Growing in Grace

2 Peter 3:18 - "But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen." Peter ends his second letter with this imperative. Grow! Grow in the grace and knowledge of Jesus. Not, "you might grow," "you should grow," nor "try to grow," but simply, "Grow." Because we are "in Christ" we will grow as Jesus said that everyone that is connected to him will grow and bear fruit, just as a branch that is connected to the vine grows. The grace of Jesus is to us as soil, water, and sunlight are to a living plant. It nurtures and develops us resulting in growth. As long as we remain (abide) in Him, His grace will continually flow in and through us producing His fruit in us. Growth is not the result of performance but of connection and relationship. Be assured that you will grow as long as you are in Him. The fruit of the Holy Spirit will be evident in our lives as His grace works in us, for us, and through us. We will flourish in Him all the days of our lives. Grace and Peace.
