Hebrews 4:16 - "Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." The throne is a symbol of Sovereign Power and Authority. The King seated on the throne can administer judgement or favor. Usually the throne is approached with fear and uncertainty. Coming before the throne can be awkward and make one feel uncomfortable. But our King Jesus sits on a throne of grace and invites us to approach with confidence (or as the KJV says 'boldly'). We are assured of our King extending to us the scepter of His divine favor. You will look into his eyes and see a smile of love and not a harsh look of anger and condemnation. Our concept of God greatly effects how we view prayer. The old song says, "What a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear; what a privilege to carry, everything to God in prayer." When you approach the throne of Grace you will find arms open wide to you. You will receive mercy and find grace. (More on that later). Our Gracious King awaits! Grace and Peace.
