Abraham +Faith - Pt. 3

Now we come to the ultimate test of Abraham's faith when God asks him to offer up his beloved promised son to Him. Seasoned in his faith, Abraham quickly moves in response to God's word. The stirring account is found in the first 18 verses of Genesis 22. Hebrews 11:17-19 tells us what was thinking as he proceeded up the mountain with his son to obey God. (NIV) "By faith Abraham, when God tested him, offered Isaac as a sacrifice. He who had received the promises was about to sacrifice his one and only son, even though God had said to him, "It is through Isaac that your offspring will be reckoned." Abraham reasoned that God could raise the dead, and figuratively speaking, he did receive Isaac back from death." Abraham's faith had reached such a level of total trust in God that he knew that God would be faithful and provide. And provide - God did - and provide God does. This test was not for God to know the depth of Abraham's faith because God knows all things - but rather, so Abraham could experience the fullness of God's love and trustworthiness.
