Nearly everyone has heard the story of Noah and the ark. This is a classic faith story. The (MSG) summarizes his life in Hebrews 11:7 - "By faith, Noah built a ship in the middle of dry land. He was warned about something he couldn't see, and acted on what he was told. The result? His family was saved. His act of faith drew a sharp line between the evil of the unbelieving world and the rightness of the believing world. As a result, Noah became intimate with God." Noah found grace or favor in God's eyes. He believed God's warning words about the coming destruction and even though he was mocked and ridiculed by those around him, he spent his life in constructing the ark and remained faithful and obedient until it's completion. Notice that it was his faith act that made him righteous before God. Our faith coupled with our obedience is what distinguishes us from unbelievers. We are saved by grace through faith. Our faith will enable us to persevere and complete the task that God has called each of us to.
