Worthy Of Praise

Philippians 4:8 (NLT) - "And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise." Some things are worthy of praise, others are not. It is important that we fill our hearts and minds with those things that are worthy of praise. We become negative and pessimistic when our thoughts are focused on things that are untrue, dishonorable, unrighteous, impure, unlovely, and undesirable - things that are not excellent nor praiseworthy. Our thoughts then influence the words that our mouth speaks and we find ourselves speaking destructive rather that constructive and life-giving words. The Message puts the same verse this way: "Summing it all up, friends, I'd say you'll do best by filling your minds and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling, gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise, not things to curse." Think praiseworthy thoughts, Speak praiseworthy words.
