When it comes to our spiritual life, guarding our hearts and minds is of vital importance. That is why we must take Paul's counsel that we always wear the full armor of God. Consider this verse in 1 Thessalonians 5:8 (NIV) "But since we belong to the day, let us be self-controlled, putting on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation as a helmet." The breastplate protects the heart and the helmet protects the mind. The mind of the believer is the battlefield. When our thoughts are on the hope of our salvation, which is Jesus, our mind is guarded and protected. Keep your eyes and thoughts on Jesus and he will keep your mind safe and secure and in peace. Doing this, we will stand sure no matter what the enemy tries to do to defeat us.
