In Psalm 42:5; 42:11; 43:5, David asks two questions with one great answer. In both of these Psalms, he is going through some difficult, despairing, discouraging times that have left him despondent, depressed, disturbed and downcast. (My question is why so many of these words start with a D? :)) Check out the verse that is repeated 3 times (NIV) - "Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God." Seasons of testing have a way of emptying and draining us - physically, emotionally, and spiritually. We find ourselves with many questions, anxieties and uncertainties. People can even cause us to doubt by asking, "Where is your God? We may sigh and we may cry. There is only one good answer in these situations. Put your hope in God! It's not over. You will sing and praise again! God will come through for you. Don't give up hope, child, things are gonna get easier, things will get brighter. Weeping may endure for a night but joy is coming in the morning.
